Hi again,
What can I say about the new single ‘Take It Easy’ featuring the wonderful Juliette Farrell on vocals, apart from I’m really proud of it and appreciative of the work Juliette and her husband, Joel put into it. A real team effort.
Joel and I were partners in a collective called Die Hard Productions many years ago and we met Juliette at a MOBO unsigned event. We produced her first solo album and released it on our Die Hard Media label. We got some really warm reviews from the Soul community. Happy days!
Over the years we kept in touch and we always send stuff to each other to show what were working on. So I sent this track over to see what they thought of this direction I’d taken. Joel messaged me a few minutes later and said ‘Juliette is already writing to it!’. I think that’s was good sign.
Normally it would take a day or two to finish if we were in person but due to the Covid -19 restrictions we had to do things over the internet, sending files and messaging ideas and revisions, pushing each other to get things better. Team work makes the dream work!
The result is a retro filled that that can work as either a house or old skool soul track full of brass stops and pushes and flowing strings, reminding us of how love used to be back at the beginning a relationship.
Shout out to Joel for his great engineering as always and to Stuart Ketteridge for his mastering ears (smoothing out my mixing mistakes – Thank You!)
